The Drum Corps of the Manchester Pipe Band recently took delivery of a new set of Snare, Bass, and Tenor drums from Pearl Drums USA. The band was able to purchase the drums through a generous grant from the Manchester Road Race Committee.

At the outset of this competition season, it was apparent that the band’s existing set of drums was in need of replacement after having been played continuously since 1999. The band has performed annually at the Manchester Road Race for at least 35 years, and is very thankful for the generous grant provided in order to defray the cost of replacing the drums. The Manchester Road Race donated over $129,000.00 in grants to local organizations after this year’s 77th annual run. The Manchester Pipe Band is among the first musical groups to benefit from these local grants.

Dr. Tris Carta, President of the Manchester Road Race Committee added: “Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, runners, volunteers, and spectators, our Thanksgiving Day event is able to benefit the community 365 days of the year.” MPB is looking forward to playing the new drums at the 78th annual Manchester Road Race, on November 27th, 2014.
